Changchun (Eternal Spring) Shrine is a landmark and memorial shrine complex in the Taroko National Park near Xuilin Township in Hualien County. It was built in 1958 to commemorate 212 veterans who died during the construction of the highway. It’s been rebuilt twice after being destroyed by landslides. This area of Taiwan is heavily affected by earthquakes, and the earth vibrating beneath your feet is a common part of every day life.
The name of the shrine comes from the Changchun Falls that never run dry, and the shrine is located right above the waterfall.
